Waldron’s Test

Waldron’s test is used to detect the presence of patellofemoral joint pathology. This test is also called the squat test.

With the patient in a standing position, place one hand over the patella and ask the patient to perform several slow, deep, knee bends.

The test is considered positive if it reproduces the patient’s anterior knee pain with or without a sensation of crepitus. This is indicative of patellofemoral pain syndrome.
